Crested geckos have no eyelids, so they can't blink. They lick their eyes instead.

Many species of gecko, crested geckos among them, do not have the ability to blink. They have no eyelids, so they have no way of closing their eyes to keep them clean.
Instead, they lick their eyes. A crested gecko uses its tongue to keep each eye clean and moist.
What the video shows
This is a short clip, about 3 minutes long, filmed in HD and played back in slow motion. Slowing it down lets you watch the whole movement as the tongue comes out of the mouth and passes over the eye.
It is a simple video, but it shows one of the ways crested geckos differ from animals that blink, and why a gecko with its tongue on its eye is nothing to worry about: it is how it looks after its eyes.
