6 Things You Need Before You Get Your First Gecko

The six things to have ready before a first crested gecko comes home.

Before a first gecko comes home, there are some things you need to have in place. This video goes through six of them, one at a time, with the products I featured for each.

  1. A tank. Two sizes are shown: 30 × 30 × 45 cm (12 × 12 × 18 in) and 45 × 45 × 60 cm (18 × 18 × 24 in).
  2. Substrate. Coco fiber substrate for the floor of the tank.
  3. A gecko diet. The diets featured are Pangea, Repashy, Zoo Med, Big Fat Gecko, Black Panther and Leapin Leachies.
  4. Insects and gutload. Live crickets, along with Pangea Insect Grub (PIG) and Repashy Bug Burger.
  5. A humid hide.
  6. A temperature and humidity gauge.
